Teenager suffers gunshot wound

A 17-year-old Atmore girl is recovering from injuries sustained from a gunshot wound received in an altercation last Wednesday afternoon.
According to a spokesperson with the Atmore Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call reporting an altercation at the North Main Mobile Home Park at 6:31 p.m. on April 16.
Witnesses stated to officers that Jeffery Jenkins, 23, and Ralind Davis, 25, both of Atmore were involved in a physical altercation.
"During the altercation Jenkins pulled a small caliber handgun and fired several shots," the spokesperson said.
A bullet struck Davis in one of his legs and a stray bullet struck a 17-year-old juvenile girl in the head.
Davis and the 17-year-old girl were transported to Atmore Community Hospital. Life Flight later transported the teenager to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola where she received treatment and was later released.
Jenkins was arrested on two counts of first-degree assault. Additional charges are pending in the case.
