Former Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce executive director Emilie Mims was officially sworn into her new position as Escambia County Probate Judge on Monday during an investiture proceeding.
Alabama Supreme Court Justice Lyn Stuart administered Mims' oath at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton. Stuart, like Mims, is an Atmore native and a graduate of Escambia County High School. Mims swearing in ceremony took place three weeks after she began carrying out the duties of retired probate judge Rachel Agerton earlier this month.
Since leaving the Chamber, Mims has kept a very hectic schedule, including a reception held by the chamber in her honor last week at First National Bank &Trust. Monday's proceedings marked the end of her transition into the probate judge's office just as the chamber has begun the process of selecting her replacement.
