Recognizing Community College Month means taking a look at just how far community colleges have come with the introduction of advanced technology.
Jefferson Davis Community College is enjoying growth in many areas including web-based classes.
The opportunity to take a wide variety of classes on-line, allows a student to work at their own pace, on their own schedule, Hall said.
Classes offered on-line carry the same rules and benefits as classes offered in a traditional classroom setting.
Testing for web-based classes is also done on-line, Hall said.
Grades for courses are posted on official college transcripts in accord with established college procedures and policies concerning student academic records.
Classes currently being offered online through JDCC include personal and community health, legal and social environment, microcomputer applications, English composition I and II, American literature I and II, fundamentals of public speaking, medical terminology, business statistics I and II, principles of accounting I and II, managerial accounting, advanced microcomputer applications, introduction to web development, principles of microeconomics, principles of macroeconomics, general psychology, human growth and development and wellness.
JDCC will continue to develop online classes, Hall said.
