Ron Weinmann traveled a lot while serving in the U.S. Navy for 22 years

(This week The Atmore Advance spotlights Ron Weinmann of Atmore.)
Q: When and where were you born?
A: Akron Ohio, on July 30, 1939.
Q: Who were your parents?
A: Gordon and Gertha Weinmann.
Q: What did your parents do for a living?
A: My father was a tool and dye maker (Machinist) and my mother was a dance instructor in 1953.
Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
A: I have one sister, Sandra, who lives in Leesburg, Ga.
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: Albany, Ga.
Q: Do you do a lot of traveling?
A: Well, I was in the Navy for 20 years so I did quite a bit of traveling.
Q: Where did you work?
A: I was in the Navy and a postal carrier. I retired from both with 22 years.
Q: Where have you lived?
A: Whiting Field, Memphis Tenn., Long Beach, Calif., Jacksonville, Fla. and Midway Island.
Q: What do you like most about Atmore?
A: The people in Atmore are wonderful.
Q: Did you ever marry?
A: I was married twice before and now I am married to Lorraine Simmons.
Q: What made your spouse the one for you?
A: God became involved. He took the desires out of my heart and put them in her and I fell in love.
Q: What advice do you give married couples for them to have a long, healthy marriage?
A: Be obedient to the Lord.
Q: Do you have children?
A: I have two sons, three daughters and four step-daughters.
Q: Do you have any grandchildren?
A: I have a total of 16 grandchildren and that includes Lorraine’s grandchildren.
My son had a set of twins and then nine years later my daughter had a set of twins on the same day. I also have one great grandchild.
Q: Where do you attend church?
A: Robinsonville Baptist Church
Q: What keeps you busy these days?
A: My wife and I visit homebound people, volunteer at the American Legion, line dance at the Atmore Nursing Home and visit with family.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
A: The History Channel
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: A homemade BLT sandwich.
Q: What advice would you like to give people on staying healthy?
A: Exercise and don’t over indulge in anything.
