Miller loves Atmore because of friendly people, good neighborhoods

(This week The Atmore Advance spotlights 89-year-old Annie Miller of Atmore. Miller is a frequent visitor of the Atmore SAIL Center. She also enjoys watching Channel 3 and Channel 5 on TV and eating cornbread with buttermilk.)
Q: When and where were you born?
A: On Feb. 25, 1919 in Camden.
Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
A: I had one sister named Flora.
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: I didn’t go.
Q: Do you do a lot of traveling?
A: Yea. I went here with the seniors at the Atmore SAIL Center.
Q: Where did you work?
A: I never worked. I only worked in the house.
Q: Where have you lived?
A: I lived in Millers Ferry, Camden, Brewton and Atmore.
Q: What do you like most about Atmore?
A: I like it down here (at the SAIL Center). I just like it down here (in Atmore). There are friendly people and good neighborhoods.
Q: Did you ever marry?
A: Twice and I don’t want anymore.
Q: Do you have children?
A: I have three boys and four girls.
Q: Do you have any grandchildren?
A: A slew of them and I have great grandchildren.
Q: Where do you attend church?
A: In Brewton and Atmore.
Q: What keeps you busy these days?
A: I quilt, but I haven’t started back again. I could piece a top in a day.
And the Atmore SAIL Center.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
A: Channel 5 and Channel 3. I sit there and watch them act stupid.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Buttermilk and cornbread.
Q: What advice would you like to give people on staying healthy?
A: I just take care of myself and when the law comes and people start hollering, you know if you haven’t done anything wrong you don’t have anything to holler about.
