The search for the new Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce executive director is underway, according to president Allen Walston.
The Chamber began accepting resumes at the beginning of April after former executive director Emilie Mims accepted a position as Escambia County probate judge.
There were 17 original applicants according to Walston. After a six-member committee reviewed the 17 resumes, the number dwindled to seven.
The seven individuals were interviewed yesterday or are being interviewed today.
If the six-member committee makes a decision on who the next Chamber director should be, they will make a recommendation to the board of directors at their next meeting, slated for May 12. The board will have to approve that recommendation in order for a director to be named.
The six-member committee, which will “hopefully” make a recommendation to the entire Chamber board on Monday, consists of Walston, vice president Cindy Lee, treasurer Lisa Reynolds, Peggie Byrd, LeeAnn Allen and Tim Manning.
