Huss claims checkered flag in Late Model division

Those in attendance Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway were treated to some high-octane racing as the Cajun Sprint Cars heated up the 1/4 mile dirt track.
Sixteen Cajun Sprint Car drivers made the trip to south Alabama for some pedal-to-the-metal racing for the checkered flag.
Shane Morgan took home first place in the Cajun Sprint Car race. Lane Whittington, Marshall Yelverton, Timmy Thrash and Robert Casada finished out the Top 5.
In the Late Model division, Josh Huss claimed the checkered flag, followed by Rusty Ellis and Tracy Sutton. Heath Gibson and Chris Griffin rounded out the Top 5. Spanky Sexton finished sixth, Seth Gransberry seventh, Wade Cole eighth, Micha McCall ninth and 10th went to Kenny Townson. Bernard Blackwell finished 11th and Kevin Maher claimed 12th.
Levi Walls went to Victory Lane in the Bomber division followed by Jamie Young in second place and Stephen Fretwell in third. Justin Adam and Brandon McGlothlin finished in the Top 5. Scooter Willis, Ken Perry, Keaton Ward, Joey Chiles and Eddie Hammonds rounded out the Top 10. Mike Patterson and Erica Kittrell finished 10th and 11th respectfully.
Bobby Resmondo took the checkered in his double zero car to claim the victory in the Street Stock division. Jarrod Johns, Marty Van, Kevin Born and Wayne Hawthorne finished out the Top 5. Rusty Turner finished sixth, seventh went to Taye Porter, Michael Johnson finished eighth, Preston Porter ninth and Cory Butler claimed 10th. Will Findley placed in 11th and Michael Porter finished out the field in 12th.
In the Stinger division, Jimmy Boyington out drove Aaron Kiaunis to claim the victory. Michael Born, Brian McCreary and Corey Guage made up the Top 5. Ronald Ross finished drove to a sixth place finish, Cody Burroghs claimed seventh, Al Woods was eight, Ernie Hall ninth, Christina Edge was 10th and Claude Odom claimed 11th.
This Saturday night will feature a Ladies Powder Puff race to end the night’s races. At intermission, Kiddy Rides will be offered, allowing children to ride around the track with their favorite racers.
Flomaton Speedway is located at 913 Hwy. 113 in Flomaton. Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing begins at 8 p.m.
