Oak Grove church hosts homecoming
Oak Grove Baptist Church, Oak Grove, Florida will celebrate its 67th Homecoming on Sunday, May 18th. Service begins at 10:30 a.m. with Bro. Jesse Wood preaching and special music by Ken Hicks during the service. Bring a covered dish and join the church for lunch in Walker Hall following the service. GECA auditions to be held today
The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts will hold auditions for its summer production today. Auditions for Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at City Hall in Atmore at 2 p.m.
NWE cheer sign-up held on Saturdays
NWE Cheerleader registration will be held every Saturday in May at Earnest Ward Football from 10 a.m. until noon.
Holiness church to host revival services
The Flomaton Pentecostal Holiness Church will be having revival services May 18-21. Sunday worship service begins at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday night services begin at 7 p.m. The Rev. Joe and Betty Hamby of Sugarland, Texas will be the evangelists. Pastor Homer Stewart and the church family extends a special invitation to the public to attend all of the services.

ECHS class of ‘98 to host reunion
Escambia County High School Class of 1998 will hold a reunion meeting at Weatherford’s Steak House (formally known as Best Western Restaurant) on June 1 at 5 p.m. There will be a charge of $40 per person and this will include dinner and building fee, deadline will be May 19th. Historical Society to meet May 19
Jerry Gehman will be the guest speaker when the Atmore Historical Society meets on May 19, at 6 p.m. in the Peavy-Webb Building. Gehman, a local railroad enthusiast, will discuss the development of railroads in the Atmore area and the impact that development had on the founding and growth of the community and its economy. The Peavy-Webb Building is located in Heritage park.
County commission to meet May 27
The Escambia County Commission will conduct an adjourned regular session on May 27 at 9 a.m. in the county commission chambers, room 201, at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton.
The administrative workshop will be held on May 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Cancer symposium to be held May 22
The Escambia County Cancer Education Symposium will be held at Little Escambia Church in Flomaton May 22 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Poll workshops to be held on June 3
The upcoming Primary Election will be held on June 3rd. Poll workers, appointed by the Judge of Probate, are required by law to attend Poll Worker workshops. These workshops are scheduled for May 20 and will be conducted by Howell Hawthorne, Custodian of Elections. Atmore times and locations are listed below:
Coalition to meet May 22 at hospital
The May Coalition meeting will be held on May 22 at 7 a.m. at the Atmore Community Hospital. Please try to attend this important meeting as the group will discuss the health priorities for the Children's Policy Council Needs Assessment for this year. As you know, the Coalition serves as the Health Committee for the CPC.
Full Gospel church to host singing
Full Gospel Community Church in Dixonville on Hwy. 87, right past the lottery store on Ganey Ford Road, will have their first fourth Friday of the month singing on May 23.

Bay Springs to hold singing on May 24
Bay Springs Full Gospel Church will host their fourth Saturday night singing on May 24th at 6 p.m. featuring Muscogee Boys.
Daniel family to meet May 24
The annual family reunion of the descendants of Thomas Jefferson Daniel and Christiana Stabler Daniel will be held May 24 at Claude D. Kelley State Park. All family members are reminded to bring an expensive item for a door prize to be given away. A pot luck luncheon will be served at noon.
Eliska church to host gospel singing
The Eliska Holiness Church will hold a gospel singing at 6 p.m. May 24. Everyone is invited to attend. All singers and musicians are welcome to participate. Refreshments will be served.

FBC Bratt to host softball tournament
The First Baptist Church of Bratt will be holding a Co-ed Softball Tournament at Bradberry Ballpark in Walnut Hill on May 31. $200 entry fee per team. Three women minimum on the field at all times. Proceeds will go to the youth group's summer camp expenses.

Brooks Memorial to host VBS in June
Brooks Memorial Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from June 2-6 beginning at 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. ages 4 yrs. through 6th grade. The theme will be “Outrigger Island.”
The Vacation Bible School Kickoff Parade will be May 24 at 10 a.m. 904 E. McRae Street.
Greater Mt. Triumph to hold VBS in May
Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. May 26-30. The theme this year will be “Adventures in Faith.”
Cheer &Dance Power registration
Atmore All-Star Cheer and Dance Power registration is being held for boys and girls ages 3 and up for all star cheer classes, lyrical ballet and hip hop dance class. An adult dance class is also available. Registration will be held every Monday and Wednesday of the month of April, May and ending June 4th at 114 W. Ridgeley Street across from County Charms from 3:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. The cost of registration is $25. Spaces are limited. New classes begin May 12th.

Art, antique festival slated for June 7
Come to the country for the First Annual Southwest Alabama Antique and Art Fair in Uriah, June 7 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Rain date will be June 14th. Artists from all over Southwest Alabama and Northwest Florida will be there. Original Fine Art, Original Folk Art, Original Pottery, Hand Crafted Quilts and Antiques.

Escambia County Training School Class of 1958 will host a reunion on July 5 at Weatherford’s Steak House (formally known as Best Western Restaurant) There will be a fee of $55 per person or $100 per couple. Deadline to pay is June 1. All interested parties call 251-368-2660 or 251-368-3501.
Police Academy to be held July 14-18
The eighth annual Youth Police Academy will be held July 14-18 at Jefferson Davis Community College.
Lodging will be at JDCC’s Lakeview Dormitory.
Those interested must be ages 12-17 with an interest in law enforcement.
The cost is $175, which includes lodging, food, two academy T-shirts, graduation reception and training materials.
The deadline to register is June 2 and a $75 deposit is due when application is turned in.

Fiddler’s Convention to be held July 19
The 29th Atmore Rotary Fiddler’s Convention will be held on July 19. The Rotary Club is looking for a few judges for the event. If you or someone else you know is interested, call Keith Castleberry at 368-2106.

The American Cancer Society Community Loan Closet, located at Greenlawn Home Health Care (810 East Craig Street), has supplies for cancer patients including, hats, wigs, breast prostheses, bras, blankets, port pillows and turbins. Please stop by and benefit from this free source.
