ATMORE - Tennie C. Fails, 82, of Atmore died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at her residence.
She was a homemaker, born in Repton on Feb. 19, 1926 to the late Clarence and Kate Johnson Crawford.
Her husband, Luther Franklin Fails Sr., five sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.
Survivors include, two sons, Luther Franklin Fails Jr. of Atmore and Donnie Thomas Fails (Patricia) of Atmore; four daughters, Mary F. Dow of Atmore, Earline Byrd (Chester) of Atmore, Cornelia Mills of Crestview, Fla. and Aline Kirby (Tommy) of Evergreen; two sisters, Eleanor Josey (John) of Frisco City and Bessie Brantley (Bud) of Atmore; nine grandsons, Scott Neal (Susan), Mark Neal (Kim), Douglas Byrd (Kulua), Michael Byrd (Tiffany), Stephen Mills, Russell Ward (Heather), Frankie Fails, Freddie Fails (Mandy) and Thomas Fails Jr. (Sondra); four granddaughters, Angie Davis (Blevin), Wendi Varner (Richard), Holly White (Steve) and Amy Cumbie; 11 great grandsons, Brandon Neal, Adam Neal, Harley Byrd, Dalton Davis, Ricky Varner, Nathan Ward, Frankie Fails, Jessie Fails, Gage White, Gavyn Fails and Kade Fails; 10 great granddaughters, Ashley Neal, Lauren Neal, Chrissy Chong (Jonathan), Samantha Byrd, Heather Byrd, Taylor Byrd, Tiffany Ward, Chanley Ward, K-Lee Cumbie and Danielle Fails and one great-great granddaughter, Adrienne Chong.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Odom officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill cemetery. Active pallbearers were Scott Neal, Mark Neal, Douglas Byrd, Michael Byrd, Russell Ward and Steve White. Alternates were Thomas Fails and Freddie Fails. Family received friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

William Earle “Fifty” Robinson Sr.
ATMORE - William Earle “Fifty” Robinson Sr., 55, was born on July 29, 1952 to Sam and MaeBell Robinson. He graduated from Escambia County High School in 1971. On June 24, 1972 he was united in marriage to Gloriadine Edwards Jefferson and to this union seven children were born. He joined the church at an early age, wandered away and found his way back to Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church where he was president of the male chorus.
Even after being diagnosed with lung and liver cancer in 2007, he held on to his faith and continued to strengthen his relationship with the Lord until he was called to rest on May 9, 2008.
His father, Sam Robinson and two sisters, Patricia Lyons Green and Priscilla Johnson preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving, devoted wife, Gloriadine Robinson; his mother, MaeBell Robinson and mother-in-law, Ella Edwards of Albion, N.Y.; seven children, Eric (Fahamisha) Robinson Sr., Valerie Stephens, William (Paula) Robinson Jr. and Marzell Robinson, all of Atmore and Carlton (Ashley) Robinson of Montgomery; nine grandchildren, Eric Robinson Jr., Nakieyah Robinson, Johnny Stephens Jr., Wilineshia Robinson, Tocorian Brown, Skytessa Jones, LaShaun Robinson Jr., Donovan Robinson and Antonio Brown; one sister, Linda (Joseph) Wright of Corpus Christi, Texas; nine aunts, Emma Edwards of Mobile, Voncille Lee of Clearwater, Fla. Juanita Ethel and Elmira Robinson from Fort Meyers, Fla., Odessa Kelly, Dorothy McMillan, Lula (Leroy) Knight, Novella Williams and Dorothy Lee, all of Atmore; four uncles, Dan Robinson of Atmore and Leroy, James and Earnest Robinson of Fort Meyers, Fla.; four sisters-in-laws, Celestine (Robert) McCaskill of Brewton, Emma Maye, Marilyn Edwards and Geraldine Jefferson of Atmore; one brother-in-law, Donald (Joanne) Jefferson of Atmore and a host of other relatives and friends. He was also loved by three special friends, David Albert (deceased), Chester Dawson of Atmore and David Chambers of Cleveland, Ohio.
Funeral services were held at noon Friday, May 16, 2008 at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church in Atmore. Burial followed in Fairview cemetery. Pallbearers were family and friends. The Rev. Freddie Banks, pastor, officiated the services.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Randolph Julian Ard
McDAVID, Fla. - Mr. Randolph Julian Ard, 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at a local hospital.
Mr. Ard was a native of Chumuckla, Fla., a resident of McDavid, Fla. for the past 14 years and a retired employee from the Red Ball Express and American Airlines
Survivors include, his wife, Maggie Ard of McDavid, Fla. two brothers, Jerry Ard of Davisville, Fla. and Rolen Ard of Daleville and a sister, Bessie Tedder of Milton, Fla.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Myhala and Jerry Ard, 9741 Highway 97 in Davisville, Fla.
Raymond Archie Davis
CENTURY, Fla. - Raymond Archie Davis, 78, of Century, Fla. died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Hubbard’s Landing. He was a retired Sheet Metal Worker, born in Escambia County, Fla. on March 23, 1930 to the late Jasper Homer and Nellie Dove Davis Sr.
One brother, Jasper Homer Davis Jr.; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Purvis and Gladys Eleanor Davis preceded him in death.
Survivors are, one son, Mark Davis; one daughter, Rayann Austin (Ed), all of Woodside, Calif.; three brothers, Jimmy Davis (Sharon) of Davisville, Fla., Bobby Davis ( Irene) of Molino, Fla. and Johnny Davis (Gladys) of Grand Bay; two sisters, Eleanor Stabler (R.B.) of Greenville and Leona Jones of Cantonment, Fla.; sister-in-law, Loraine Davis Elliot of Bratt, Fla.; three grandchildren, Chad Austin, Kelly Moore and Haley Austin and two great grandchildren, Riley Jasper Austin and Kailey Ray Moore.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008 in Pine Barren cemetery in Davisville, Fla. with Bro. Charles Cox officiating. Active pallbearers were Oscar Davis, Jeff Clark, Robert Starkie, Frank Jay, Eddie Tisdale and Jim Moore. Family received friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Neville Dean Whitehurst
BAY MINETTE - Neville Dean Whitehurst, 61, of Bay Minette died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at his residence.
He was an office equipment tech, born in Richmond, Va. on July 15, 1946 to Thomas Shelby and Anna Harrison Whitehurst. He was a native of Atmore and a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War.
His father, Thomas Shelby Whitehurst, preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his mother, Anna Harrison Whitehurst of Atmore; two sisters, Thelma Robinson (Don) of Bay Minette and Teresa Godwin, all of Atmore and two nieces and two nephews.
Services were held at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Chip Starnes and the Rev. Dan Rhoades officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill cemetery.
Family received friends from 10 a.m. until service time.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Clara Smith
BREWTON - Mrs. Clara Smith, 75, of Brewton died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Atmore Community Hospital.
Services will be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore.
