Judy (Ikner) Kirksey
BAY MINETTE - Judy (Ikner) Kirksey, 61, born in Uriah and a resident of Bay Minette died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at her residence. She retired from Vanity Fair (quality control) after 25 years of service. In August 2006 she joined the staff, as secretary, of Norris Funeral Home.
She is survived by, two sons, Mickey (Jerrie) Kirksey of Lynn Haven, Fla. and Tommy (Robin) Kirksey of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandsons, Buddy Kirksey, Stewart Kirksey, Jason Kirksey, Benjamin Kirksey and Bradley Kirksey; three sisters, Marie Lathan of Bay Minette, Katrina (Albert) Crane of Bay Minette and Gayle (Gary) Scarbrough of Bay Minette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Penola “Penny” Ikner and her husband, William G. “Bill” Kirksey.
The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Chapel of Norris Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Welch officiating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Klondike cemetery in Pensacola, Fla. Pallbearers will be James Godwin, Keith Patterson, Aaron Godwin, Johnny Godwin, Gary Cooper and Larry Brown. Honorary pallbearer will be was Eddie Newton.
Funeral arrangements were made by Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette.
Dora M. Wiggins
WAWBEEK - Mrs. Dora M. Wiggins, 90, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2008 at a Santa Rosa County hospital.
Mrs. Wiggins was a native of Wawbeek, a resident of Byrneville, Fla. since 1950 and attended the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Clayton Wiggins; three sons, Robert Wiggins, James Wiggins and Eddie Wiggins and a daughter, Evelyn Wiggins.
Survivors include, two sons, the Rev. R.C. and Thelma Wiggins of Byrneville, Fla. and Randall and Linda Wiggins of Byrneville, Fla.; her daughter, Alice and Thomas Raines of Evergreen; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; her sister, Hilda Burkett of Byrneville, Fla. and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Ronald Broadhead and the Rev. Greg Bevan officiating. Burial will follow at the Beulah Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, June 1, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Chris Wiggins, Tim Wiggins, Myron Raines, William Wiggins, Tussell Raines and Clayton Wiggins.
Benjamin Joseph “B.J.” Martin
CHICKASAW - Mr. Benjamin Joseph “B.J.” Martin, 29, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008 in Chickasaw.
Mr. Martin was a native of Century, Fla., a former resident of Crestview, Fla., a resident of Chickasaw for the past three months, a member of the Union Local #89 of Mobile and attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church and the Center Pointe Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include, his wife , Kristina Marie Martin of Chickasaw; three sons, Alex Martin and Dylan Martin, both of Crestview and Issac Martin of Chickasaw; two daughters, Bell Martin and Ana Martin, both of Chickasaw; his mother, Patricia Rydzowski of Century, Fla.; three brothers, Chuck Day, Shannon Martin and Adam Martin, all of Flomaton; two sisters, Robi Carden of Jay, Fla. and Vicki Harris of Wiggins, Miss. and many nephews, nieces and great nieces.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 29, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Spence Walker officiating. Burial followed at Poplar Dell cemetery. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Chuck Day, Shannon Martin, Adam Martin, Isaiah Day, Paul Smith and Ron Collingsworth. Honorary pallbearers were Jake Carden, Pete Carden, John Chavers, Christopher White, Kenny Higdon and George Chavers.
Delmarshaee Henderson-Lee
LOS ANGELES - Ms. Delmarshaee Henderson-Lee, 55, of Los Angeles, Calif. formerly of Atmore died May 15, 2008 in Los Angeles after and extended illness. She has worked for the Los Angeles Development for Disable Children and had also worked as the office manager and administrative assistant for Chason Body for 18 years prior to her illness. She was a noted songstress and a graduate of Escambia County Training School in 1969 and had attended Alabama A&M University.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jeraldine Henderson Sr. and her husband, Louis Virgil Lee.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Ayana Henderson of Pensacola, Fla.; one son, Christopher Louis Lee of Inglewood, Calif.; four sisters, Betty Singleton of Houston, Texas, Sharon (Rufus) Parks of Canoga Park, Calif., Erika Lykes and Michelle Henderson, both of Atmore; one brother, Robert (Audria) Henderson Jr. of Detroit, Mich.; one grandchild and a devoted friend of 15 years, James Young Jr. of Inglewood, Calif.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church with Bishop Willie L. Williams, Pastor, officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview cemetery.
Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore directed the services.
Sarah Mae Purvis
CENTURY, Fla. - Mrs. Sarah Mae Purvis, 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at a Santa Rosa County Hospital.
Mrs. Purvis was a native and lifelong resident of Century, Fla., a retired employee after 33 years of service from the Escambia County Health Department in Century and attended the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Purvis.
Survivors include, two daughters, Susan Diane (Jimmy) Johnson of Flomaton and Danette P. (Buddy) Morris of Flomaton; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and her brother, James Powell of Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 1, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. James C. Johnson officiating. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
