The second annual “Stomp the Yard” event is slated for July 26 at Houston Avery Park.
Pastor Bernard Bishop Ministries and Deliverance Ministry of Jesus Christ, Inc., will again present to the youth of the Atmore area with “Stomp the Yard.”
Like last year’s event, there will be several gospel concerts along with many activities including a waterslide, dunking booth and spacewalkers, according to Bishop.
Bishop said the ministry chose to host “Stomp the Yard” again because it was such a success last year.
One thing that makes this year’s event different from last year’s is a $500 scholarship that will be provided to one high school senior.
Bishop said he hopes that the $500 scholarship will be able to help one student with at least their college books for a semester. There are different sponsors from businesses and churches throughout the area who have provided funding for the scholarship.
The “Giving Back Through God” scholarship program is a 500-word essay contest in which the winner is awarded the $500 scholarship.
Those interested in the scholarship answer the following question in a 500-word essay: “What can you give back to the community in your vocation through God?”
Requirements for being considered for the contest include:
The deadline is July 12. Essays can be sent to 455 Kenneth Road, Atmore, AL., 36502.
