VFW Rangers eliminate Athletics

Scoring came easy for the Atmore VFW Rangers in an 11-1 victory over the First National Bank &Trust Athletics on June 5 in an elimination game in the Cal Ripken Major League City Tournament.
Several players helped in the overwhelming Ranger offense. D’Andrez McCarthy went 2-for-3 and scored two runs in the rout.
Gage White scored two runs and hit a single, but walked twice. Tyler Sanspree and Justin Hiebert each scored two runs in the contest, while Andrew Clemmons, Cameron Mack and Bo Bishop all scored once.
J.P. Sawyer had a 1-for-2 day at the plate and scored the only run for the Athletics.

The Huskey Printing Canes crushed the Lions Club Cardinals 14-1 in an elimination game on June 5 in the Cal Ripken Major League City Tournament.
Trey Weeks’ impressive night at the plate led the Canes as he hit three doubles and scored three runs. Newt Lambeth also had a good night at the plate going 2-for-2 with a triple, double and two runs.
Other Canes to score included Bryant Lane, Jonathan Griffis and Grant Megginson.
Jadarius Brown was the lone Cardinal to make it around the base path to score.

Aaron McDonald helped create opportunities for the United Bank Warriors going 2-for-2 with two runs scored in a 9-7 victory over the Huskey Printing Canes on June 3.
The second round match up in the Cal Ripken Major League City Tournament was a tight contest. Dalton Daniels led the Warriors with three runs reaching base after getting hit by two pitches and an error. Brett Helton, Nate Smith, Malcom Black and Wesley Jefferson scored the other Warrior runs.
Dalton Simmons led the Canes batting 3-for-3, but only scored one run late in the game. Jonathan Griffis led the Canes in runs making it around the base path twice.

The Rotary Club Tigers beat the Atmore VFW Rangers 12-5 in the second round of the Cal Ripken Major League City Tournament on June 4.
Tanner Smith led the strong Tiger offense with two hits including a triple and scored two runs. Matthew Quimby hit 1-for-2 in the win, while scoring one run for the Tigers. Reggie Tolbert, Ben Hubert and Orenthal Magre all scored two runs for the Tiger offensive effort.
Andrew Clemmons and Levi Solomon led the way for the Rangers each scoring twice late in the game. Tyler Sanspree also scored.

Trey Weeks hit two singles, walked once and scored three runs on June 3 as the Huskey Printing Canes whipped the First National Bank &Trust Athletics, 15-1.
Jonathan Griffis and Newt Lambeth also scored three runs each in the rout. The other Canes to score included Dalton Simmons, Tripp Vickery, Josh Fields and Bryant Lane.
Scottie Lambert and Garrett Kirk were the only Athletic players to get hits with Kirk scoring.

The Cal Ripken Major League tournament started June 3 with the Atmore VFW crushing the Lions Club Cardinals 9-2.
Gage White scored two runs and tallied two hits in the contest leading the Ranger offense. Addi Torres was the only other Ranger to record a hit and scored a run as well.
The other Ranger runs included Bo Bishop, D’Andrez McCarthy and Andrew Clemmons.
Alex Rice and Perry Metzler led the way for the Cardinals combining for two hits and two runs.
