Dedication is important in building a winning program and dedication is something Northview High School head football coach Cody Keene believes in.
Coach Keene recognizes that kids today are not as enthusiastic as they used to be, but gives credit where credit is due by admiring the ones who do give their all especially during summer workouts.
Getting results from the program comes at a grueling price with all the different workouts and conditioning exercises the team does on a daily basis.
Keene said the team has several different drills his players do and each one has a different effect on them.
Dedication to this summer program is a must if a player wants to compete for coach Keene’s team and he means business about players being at workouts.
Keene said that there are a certain number of workouts during the summer and players must attend all of the meetings or it will be difficult for them to be apart of the team.
The program implemented by coach Keene seems to be working as it has benefited the performance and outcome of his teams the last three seasons.
Keene said he believes the program is working and is making believers out his players because their effort has been rewarded with three back-to-back winning seasons.
Mentally he sees his players benefiting from the workouts and all the hard work they put into summer training.
Keene said that working hard and preparing for the season will make it harder for his teams to give up because it will be in their heads how much effort was put into training.
