Stephanie Redmond McMillan
ATMORE - On Nov. 10, 1968 the world was blessed with Stephanie Redmond McMillan to the late Alonzo and Gussie Lee Redmond in Atmore. She was a 1989 graduate of Escambia County High School. She went on to pursue a career at the Atmore Nursing Center where she became a good friend to many for 18 years.
Stephanie at an early age started working for the Lord at Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church. She worked diligently as “usher,” holding the door for the Lord, “as a member of the Inspirational Voices” singing praises unto his name, “as a Nurses Aide” there to put her expertise to work for anyone in need and “as a matron” spreading the word of God as commanded. There she remained faithful until her health started failing her. Sometimes, not feeling like getting out of bed, she would still come and give her God her best until her death.
Her passing trials and tribulations to her reward on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in Bay Minette leaves a sense of deep distress to her family.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted husband, Alphonsa McMillan of Atmore; three daughters, Simone Redmond of Atmore, Abrianna McMillan and Olivia McMillan, both of Loive Branch, Miss; two sons, Melik McMillan of Atmore and Malcom Curry of Groton, Conn.; one brother, Victor (Sharon) Redmond of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sister-in-laws, Shirley (Otis) English, Fhelisha (Larry) Grant and Teresa (Craig) Johnson, all of Atmore; brother-in-laws, Bobby (Felecia) McMillan, George (Darlene) McMillan, Jerry (Marlo) McMillan and Wayne McMillan, all of Atmore; close cousins, Ricky(Yvette) Shuford of Prattville, Clint (Linda) Martin of Huntsville and Diane (Larry) Lee and James (Helen) Lyons of Atmore; close friends, lifelong friend and cousin Theresa (Edward) Martin of Atmore, Aretha (Harold) Dailey of Atmore and an over abundance of many more loving friends; grandmother, Annie Pearl Redmond of Walnut Hill, Fla.; aunts, Percy and Evelyn Shuford of Prattville and Mildred Ford of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Leona Scott of Texas; great aunts, Rosie L. Grimes and Laura Grimes, both of Atmore and Florence Grime of Cincinnati, Ohio; uncles, the Rev. Raymond (Erma Jean) Redmond of Walnut Hill, Fla., John Earl (LuNell) Redmond, William Lewis (Earnestine) Redmond and Edward Charles (Linda) Redmond and mother-in-law, Dorothy McMillan of Atmore.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Hawthorne, Pastor and Officiator. Interment will follow in Fairview cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Ricky Shuford, Wayne McMillan, Clint McMillan, George McMillan, Jerry McMillan and Bob McMillan.
