"Miracles" will be the theme of this year's Vacation Bible School at Trinity Episcopal Church in Atmore. This year's session will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. July 21 through July 25. On Friday, there will be a family night celebration.

VBS in Poarch began July 21
Vacation Bible School: “Be bold! God is with us,” will be held from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. July 21-24 at the Poarch Community Church, located at 6210 Jack Springs Road in the Poarch section of Atmore. Evening Bible study and activities for youth and adults will be held from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. as well. All are welcome.
Peachtree church hosting revival
Empowerment Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, located at 309 Peachtree St., will hold revival beginning July 21 and ending July 25, starting at 7 p.m. nightly. Pastor Elder Daryl North will be the speaker on July 21 and July 22. Pastor Raymond Redmond and co-pastor Erma Jean Redmond of Gospel #2 will be the speakers on July 23 and 25. We are requesting that your choir and congregation join us in uplifting the Lord.
AME church hosts annual revival
Gaines Chapel AME Church, located at 122 Carver Ave. in Atmore, invite you to worship with them in their annual revival to be held July 23-25 at 7 p.m. nightly.
The Rev. Dembray Archie, pastor of Limestone Faulk AME Zion Church in Drewry will be the evangelist for the week. The Rev. Joseph Williams is pastor of Gaines Chapel.
Day holds hand building clay class
Hand building clay class with attention to coil, slab and pencil methods combined, fired in an outdoor raku firing process July 24th and 29th at 10:30 a.m. Nancy Pratl will be the instructor. Call Day Gallery for more information, ages 10 and up. Class will be limited to eight.
FBC Canoe to host singing on Saturday
First Baptist Church of Canoe will hold a singing from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Canoe Saturday, July 26 featuring the Walnut Hill Mennonite Youth Group. Refreshments will be served. The church is located in Canoe off of Hwy. 31 next to Baker’s store.
Dixie Echoes at New Home Church
The Dixie Echoes of Pensacola, will be in concert at the New Home Church near Monroeville Thursday, July 24 at 7 p.m. There will be no charge for admission but a love offering will be received. Bay Springs hosts gospel singing
Bay Springs Full Gospel Church will host a singing with the Muscogee boys and local talent July 26th at 6 p.m. The public is invited. For more information please call 327-4349.
First Methodist to honor new pastor
First United Methodist Church will host a tea honoring the Rev. and Mrs. Jim Reece Sunday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
Walnut Hill church hosts revival
Walnut Hill Baptist Church will be in revival July 27-30. Rev. Gene Pickern will be the speaker Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. and Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. There will also be singing and praise as part of the revival.
Walnut Hill Baptist will also have their annual Homecoming on August 3, 2008. Rev. Jerry Peebles will be the guest speaker.
Kelley’s Ambulance to offer classes
Kelley’s Ambulance Service will offer the following classes:
You must register at least one week in advance of the class date. There is a minimum number of students to make a class. All classes are held at Kelley’s Ambulance Service, located at 212 N. Main St. in Atmore.

Historical society assists students
The Escambia County Historical Society has established a small scholarship award ($500) for second-term students at Jefferson Davis Community College to be first awarded at the fall term of this year. The award will go to a student majoring in history, archaeology or botany.
The funds will be placed in an account at the college bookstore on which the recipient may draw upon for books and supplies during their tenure at JDCC.

St. Anna’s VBS to begin July 28
St. Anna’s Episcopal Church, located at 100 Lynn McGhee Drive in Poarch, has scheduled Vacation Bible School (VBS) that will be held afternoons from July 28 through Aug. 1 from noon until 4 p.m. Emphasis will be on Bible study, service music, storytelling and crafts.
Carpooling to and from Atmore will be arranged if warranted. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Historical society to meet Sept. 15
The Atmore Historical Society has disbanned for the summer. The next meeting will be held on Sept. 15, the third Monday of the month.
Twirl Time classes will start Aug. 4
Twirl Time classes will begin Aug. 4 for preschool through high school, beginner through advanced. Classes include dance twirl, one, two and three batons, hoops, fire batons, knives and tumbling. Free early bird registration is July 28 at the Byrneville Community Center from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

ECMS to host orientation Aug. 5
Escambia County Middle School will host student orientations for new fifth and seventh graders on Aug. 5. Seventh graders will meet teachers and be orientated to schedules, lockers, etc. from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Fifth graders will be orientated from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Fifth graders will also be orientated to schedules, transitions and lockers. Teachers will prepare hamburgers and hotdogs for the students.
RPES to host Meet the Teacher Day
Rachel Patterson Elementary School will hold Meet the Teacher Day on Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. until noon. This is a perfect opportunity to bring school supplies and meet your child’s teacher. The first day of school will be Aug. 6.
Taste of the South looking for vendors
Taste of the South will be held Sept. 20 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Heritage Park in Atmore. The event is coordinated by the Leadership Atmore Class of 2004. Tickets will be $10. The $10 ticket will allow individuals to receive five “taste testing” tickets, allowing them to try some wonderful dishes.
If anyone is interested in having a vending booth at this event, contact the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce.
There will be live entertainment provided by local talents.
Wawbeek VFD monthly yard sale
Wawbeek Volunteer Fire Department’s monthly yard sale will be held the first Saturday of each month 8 a.m. until. Money goes to purchase Jaws of Life. Reasonable donations accepted.
NWE registration held on Saturdays
Northwest Escambia football registration will be held from 10 a.m. until noon every Saturday in July at the Ernest Ward football field.
