A woman was shot to death in her vehicle just across the Escambia County line in northeast Baldwin County Sunday afternoon.
The victim of the fatal shooting was identified as Kathy Lee Allison, 53, of Lottie. According to published reports, Allison’s son-in-law, James Morgan Dorriety, gunned her down with a high-powered rifle.
The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. west of the Escambia County line along Baldwin County 61 near Dean Lane when Dorriety allegedly shot Allison multiple times, while she was in her pickup truck. Allison worked as director of Economic Development for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
Dorriety remains behind bars today at Baldwin County Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear before a judge Michelle Hart this afternoon in Bay Minette for a bond hearing via teleconference.
Dorriety has been charged with capital murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and reckless endangerment, according to Baldwin County officials.
