An ATV accident Sunday claimed the life of an Elberta man and injured his wife, according to Escambia County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy John Gleaton.
According to Gleaton, the deadly accident happened at Long Hollow Hunting Club on McCullough Road north of Atmore. Andy Lee Knott, 51, was killed when his 2008 Artic Cat 700 all terrain vehicle began flipping end over end at a high-rate of speed, according to sheriff Grover Smith. Knott’s wife, 46-year-old Renee Dean Knott, who was passenger on the ATV, suffered a broken leg and a head injury and was transported to Atmore Community Hospital.
