Johnson enjoys all types of food

(This week The Atmore Advance spotlights 60-year-old John Alfred Johnson. Johnson enjoys visiting the Poarch SAIL Center and watching “The Price Is Right.”)
Q: When and where were you born?
A: I was born in Mobile, but raised here in Poarch, on April 24, 1948.
Q: Have you always lived in the Poarch area?
A: I lived in Mobile 14 years, other than that I’ve lived here all my life.
Q: Who were your parents?
A: Amanda Johnson.
Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
A: There were seven of us altogether. Some of them have gone on now.
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: I went to school here in the Poarch and McCullough area.
Q: Do you do a lot of traveling?
A: Not anymore. I used to.
Q: Where all have you traveled?
A: I’ve been to San Francisco, Calif. and to Detroit.
Q: Where did you work?
A: I worked for the telephone company for nine years. Then I worked at a construction site with my uncle, Pat, for the rest of the years.
Q: What do you like most about Atmore?
A: The (Poarch) SAIL Center. I come every day when they come and get me.
Q: Did you ever marry?
A: Yes.
Q: What was your spouse’s name?
A: Cecelia.
Q: Do you have children?
A: One, John Jr.
Q: Where does he live?
A: He lives with me.
Q: Do you have grandchildren?
A: No I don’t have any grandchildren.
Q: Where do you attend church?
A: I used to go to one off Hwy. 4 called Beulah Chapel. I don’t have a car so I don’t go anymore.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
A: “The Price Is Right.”
Q: What keeps you busy these days?
A: Doing housework and coming up here (to the Poarch SAIL Center).
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Everything, as long as it doesn’t eat me.
Q: What advice would you like to give people on staying healthy?
A: Don’t worry because if you worry it’ll just make you sick.
