Atmore area residents put on those boots made for walking Tuesday evening as they stepped out of there houses and onto the streets of Atmore for a “Stroll On Main Street.”
Vikki Day hosted Gallery Night’s “Stroll On Main Street” Tuesday and was excited about the success of the downtown event.
Individuals who showed up for the “stroll” were able to view many pieces of art, as well as taste wine and other refreshments.
Several Main Street shops remained open Tuesday to participate in the event.
The merchants who participated in the event included Day’s Day Gallery on Main, The Tot Shop, Pintoli’s Italian Caf/, The Beans Store, Atmore Appliance/Western Auto, First National Bank &Trust and Whistle Stop Grill.
Day said a lot of art was sold during the evening as each merchant featured an artist or several artists and because so many people showed up to enjoy the event.
Day said the fun isn’t over yet though. The Day Gallery on Main is hosting “the dog days of August contest” throughout the month of August. The contest is for people to bring their dogs in on leashes. The dogs will have a portrait made and the “best-looking” dog will be considered the grand prizewinner. The owner of the “best-looking” dog will receive a dinner for two and the dog will also receive dinner.
For more information about the contest, call Day at 251-294-1237.
