The Escambia County Blue Devils will finally take the field on Thursday night and play a jamboree game against W.S. Neal in East Brewton.
The game will be split up into two separate games with the varsity playing Neal in a one-half match up that will feature real game rules and game play with the exception of kicking. The second half of the jamboree will feature the junior varsity teams playing a game with a 20-minute clock that is running continuously.
Head coach Kyle Davis said this game is more about finding the mistakes his team is making and correcting them before their first regular season game against the T.R. Miller Tigers.
The Blue Devils will try to do the same thing they try to do every game, according to Davis.
Davis said he wants to try and establish a running game early and let the offense dictate off the result.
He added that in the past his teams have been able to exploit certain aspects of Neal’s defense.
Defensively, the Blue Devils will try to be a force and stop the Neal offense from getting anywhere, according to Davis.
Davis said that Neal tries to move the ball on the ground and his defense has seen success in stopping them in the past.
He added he is excited to see the result of the jamboree and hopes it will tune up his guys for their first game.
