John D. Miles Jr.
ATMORE - John D. Miles Jr. was born on Jan. 4, 1948 in Atmore to the late John D. Miles and Hazel (Riley). John attended the Escambia County Training School and graduated in 1966. John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. John received an honorable discharge from the Army on Nov. 17, 1973.
After John’s military service he worked for Owens and in Illinois for some years and eventually left Owens to work for the United States Postal Service. John worked for the Postal Service as a clerk until he became sick last October. He worked for a total of 33 years for the Postal Service.
In 1980, John entered into Holy Matrimony with Camelia (Graham) and became the father of two young men, Earl and Troy Young.
His parents, John and Hazel and one sister, Altheria Miles preceded him in death.
John leaves to celebrate his life, a loving and devoted wife, Camelia; sons, Earl (Valerie) of Willingboro, N.J.; Troy (Gwen) of Piscataway and Craig (Jennifer) of Columbia, Md.; six sisters, Mercedes Jones of Meza, Ariz., Altamease Chandler, Brenda, and Trudy Miles of Jersey City, N.J., Reba and Dorothy Miles of No. Brunswick, N.J.; two brothers, Steven (Cindy) of Bainbridge, Ga. and Brian (Colleen) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sister-in-laws, Carolyn (Floyd) Jenkins of Hawthorne, Ca. and Cynthia Thompson of Irvington, N.J.; 11 grandchildren, Sharrod, Dajah, Tyjhon, Diamond, Camille, Nicole, Khari, Cory, Christian, Sydney and Lynn; one aunt, Vaughn McNeal of Pennsauken, N.J. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cremation was held Friday, July 18, 2008 and a memorial service was held July 24, 2008.
Jimmie Windle Moulton
PERDIDO - Mr. Jimmie Windle Moulton, 68, passed away on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at his home.
Mr. Moulton was a native of Colquitt, Ga., a former resident of Frisco City and a resident of Perdido for the past six months and attended the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include, his wife, Hilda Moulton of Perdido, two sons, Jimmie L. “Donnie” and Kelly Moulton of Frisco City and Keith and Becky Moulton of Jackson; three daughters, Michelle and Roger Barlow of Columbus, Ga., Kristi and Glen Smith of West Blocton and Kimberly and Michael Britt of Perdido; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Marty Moulton of Albany, Ga. and Dale Moulton of Tallahassee, Fla. and one sister, Mary Betit of New Port Richie, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Britt officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Pisgah cemetery in Frisco City. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home Pallbearers were, Todd Jones, Shannon Britt, James Hull, Wayne Black, Tommy Stacey and Ernest Jordan.
Lewis D. Packer
ATMORE - Mr. Lewis D. Packer, 79, of Atmore exited into external existence on Aug. 17, 2008 at Atmore Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008 at Morning Dove Baptist Church in Perdido with the Rev. Stanley Cox, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at the Funeral Home and his body will lie instate at the Church one hour prior to the Funeral service time with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore directing.
Thomas House
ATMORE - Mr. Thomas House, 50, of Atmore died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008 at his residence in the Freemanville Community.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home will be directing the services.
