Escambia Academy served their first victories of the season Thursday afternoon in a doubleheader with area foe Lighthouse Academy.
The Lady Cougars (2-0) never lost a match to Lighthouse on Thursday beating them in six straight matches.
In the first game, the Lady Cougars defeated Lighthouse 25-11, 25-4 and 25-14 on their way to their first victory of the season.
Cougars head coach Keri Payne said she was proud of her team for the effort they gave.
She added that she was worried because her starting setter missed the game due to illness and she had to play a few younger players.
The Lady Cougars took the second game of the afternoon by defeating Lighthouse 25-13, 25-10 and 25-12.
Sophomore Amber Huskey led all Lady Cougars with 21 aces and four kills against Lighthouse.
Sophomore Tori Rodriguez finished the afternoon with 10 aces and one kill, freshman Niki Bryan finished the games with two kills and seventh grader Grayson Emmons ended the competition with three assists on kills.
Payne said she hopes her team continues to play this well and thinks they have a good shot at winning a lot of games.
Members of the Cougars’ volleyball team include senior Macey Singleton; junior Ashleigh Geck; sophomores Amber Huskey, Tori Rodriguez, Samantha Lee and Tamryn Gorum; freshman Niki Bryan; eight graders Bri Rolin and Sydney McGhee and seventh graders Lacie Flowers, Grayson Emmons and Peyton Snider.
