Mistakes and disappointment have plagued the Escambia County Blue Devils as they enter week four of the 2008 season.
A fumble late in last week’s game against Faith kept ECHS from pushing into the win column, but they get another chance this week, when they host the Spanish Fort Toros.
The Blue Devils (0-3, 0-2) have put up strong defensive efforts, but have not had the offense to win a game in their first year of 5A classification.
Head coach Kyle Davis said the Toros have a strong football program and have improved in two years under head coach Bryant Vincent.
Mutual respect is shown between the two head coaches and like Davis, Vincent agrees that Davis has also brought the Blue Devils up.
Toros head coach Bryant Vincent said Davis’ work at ECHS is known, and he added that Davis knows how to get the most out of his players.
Vincent agrees with other coaches whose teams have played against ECHS.
Vincent said that the Blue Devils are a talented team loaded with speed and agility.
To win their game this week, the Blue Devils know what they must to do to improve.
Davis said that his team must make themselves play stronger.
The game kicks off Friday night at 7 p.m. in Atmore.
