BREWTON - Mr. Reo Kirkland Jr., 60, of Alco Drive in Brewton passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 after a brief illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Brewton. Mr. Kirkland was a loving daddy of Reo Kirkland III; graduate of T.R. Miller High School, Auburn University and Jones School of Law; assistant District Attorney and owner of Reo Kirkland Attorney at Law. Mr. Kirkland served two terms as Alabama State Senator, Certified Hunting Guide in Maine, Delegate for Alabama Wildlife Commission and he nominated his mother, Martha Terry Kirkland, for president of the United States.
Survivors include one son, Reo Kirkland III and a special friend, Hilary Shell, both of Brewton; one brother, Karl (Laurie) Kirkland of Montgomery; one sister, Jean (John) Kirkland Ritchie of N.C. and special friends Wendy West of Brewton, Paul Harden Sr., Grover Smith and, all pallbearers.
Visitation was held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Lee Cadendead; son, Reo Kirkland III, speaker; Grover Smith and speaker, Steve Billy, officiating. Interment followed in Union Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
Pallbearers were Reo Kirkland III, Monte McGougin, Grover Smith, Steve Billy, Russell Martin, Paul Harden Jr., Paul Hardin Sr. and Pat Lindsey.
