Homecoming week is upon the Escambia Academy Cougars and instead of fun and games they are focused on picking up their first victory of the 2008 season over the Wilcox Academy Wildcats.
The Cougars (0-5) are desperately seeking a victory to save their troubled season, which is almost half over.
A win against the Wildcats would be a great boost not only to the football team, but the school’s community in general after the campus was vandalized Sunday night.
Head coach Heath Gibson said that gaining a victory over Wilcox could possibly put his team in to a winning mindset.
The Cougars have changed up their offense again and are planning to bring something different to the field, according to Gibson.
Gibson said the team has been practicing the wishbone offense the last week and a half.
He added that this could be the offense that fits his team the best.
Preparing to stop the Cougars changing offense is Wilcox Wildcats head coach Chris Burford.
Burford said like EA his team is struggling and just wanting to win a game.
Burford has seen on paper and film what the Cougars are capable of doing if they get into a rhythm.
Burford said that he has seen EA run a lot of different sets on offense and defense.
He added that they can be a double threat depending on how hard they attack the ground and air.
Escambia Academy and Wilcox kickoff at 7 p.m. at Bachelor Field.
