CANOE - Mr. Robert Wilson Fountain, 88, of Canoe passed away on Sept. 29, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Fountain was born April 1, 1920 in Canoe to Julius and Mamie Fountain. He was a carpenter with Graham Construction and was an Army WWII Veteran.
His parents, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Vivian Evers Fountain, four sons, Kenneth (Wanda) Fountain of Frisco City, Dudley (Sheila) Fountain of Canoe, Glenn (Debbie) Fountain of Canoe and Tony (Sherri) Fountain of Huxford; three daughters, Sybil (Leonard) Sewell of Loganville, Ga., Brenda (Paul) Metts of Robinsonville and Wanda (Merrill) Ledford of Canoe; one brother, Havard Fountain of Robertsdale; one sister, Gladys Pope of Pensacola, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie Strickland, Jason Fountain, Lee Fountain, Hannah Barnes, Amber Fountain, Hillary Metts, Aaron Fountain, Matthew Ledford, Michael Ledford, Brook Fountain, Blake Fountain and one great grandchild, Will Fountain.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 1, 2008 at the First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Don Davis and Wanda Fountain officiating. Mr. Fountain will lie in state at the Church one hour prior to funeral time. Burial will follow at Hall’s cemetery in Canoe. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept.30, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jason Fountain, Lee Fountain, Aaron Fountain, Richard Fountain, Wayne Fountain and Ronnie Marshall.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
