ATMORE – Fred Lamar Zuiderhoek, 78, of Atmore died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008 at his residence.
Zuiderhoek was retired from Alabama Power as a district accounting manager, also worked with the Atmore Police Department and the Escambia County, Ala. Sheriff’s Office and had a Frame and Art Supply Shop for many years. He was a member of the Masons for 50 years and a member of the American Legion.
His first wife, Edith Moore Zuiderhoek; his parents and eight brothers and sisters, preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Sandra W. Zuiderhoek of Atmore; one son, Fred Lamar Zuiderhoek and wife, Sandy, of Pelham; two daughters, Susan Gail Whatley of Prattville and Shannon Cooper and husband, Carl, of Bratt, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Denise Elaine Neighbors of Huntsville, Daphne Young Smart of Millbrook and Laura Palmer of Decatur, Ga.; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a special niece, Joyce Tucker.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 from St. Anna’s Episcopal Church with pastoral leader Milledge Baker and the Rev. Gary Baldwin officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery with full Masonic Rights.
Family received friends from 1 p.m. until service time at St. Anna’s Episcopal Church’s Parish Hall.
Family requests no flowers. Memorial may be made to the St. Anna’s Episcopal Church of the American Red Cross at P.O. Box 343, Atmore, AL. 36504.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
