When Atmore residents receive their next bill from the Atmore Utilities Board, they will be slightly higher.
The Atmore City Council agreed Monday afternoon to increase the fee for garbage service from $15 to $20 per month.
In other business, the council:
Frye’s husband, Bobby, owner of the Chick-A-Dee for more than 30 years, was denied his request for a business license twice to reopen his club after it was damaged by hurricanes and closed down in 2005 after council members heard concerns from local law enforcement agencies regarding various criminal activities.
The city granted the couple’s son, John, a business license for The Assembly Place in late June to operate a reception hall at 52 Carver Avenue to be used for receptions, banquets, family reunions, class reunions, birthday occasions and wedding receptions.
Monday’s approval extends the license another 90 days.
