FLOMATON - Mr. Murphy James Dixon, 80, of Flomaton died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at Jay Hospital in Jay, Fla.
He was a native and longtime resident of Flomaton and was a retired employee with Monsanto now known as Solutia. He attended school in Flomaton and was a member of the Fannie Baptist Church.
His parents, Commodore and Mamie Dixon, three daughters, Rhonda Tinker, Millie Dixon, and Mamie Tinker; two brothers, Edward Dixon and Gent Dixon and one sister, Minnie Salter preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife, Ruby J. Dixon of Flomaton; three daughters, Deborah (Thomas) Salery of Pike Road, Christine (Willie) Bradley and Cynthia (Timothy) Davenport, all of Flomaton; five sons, Robert (Hazel) Dixon, and Murphy (Linda) Dixon Jr., all of Brewton, Paul (Elsie) Jenkins of Jersey City, N.J., Commodore (Patricia) Dixon of Birmingham and Dwight (Kathy) Dixon of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Zelma Pugh of Atmore and Sophronia Quinley of Flomaton; 29 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at the Fannie Baptist Church in Flomaton with the Rev. Hiriam Stanton, Pastor officiating. Interment will be held in the Fannie/Damascus cemetery in Atmore with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore directing.
