To commemorate fire prevention week, the Atmore Fire Department invited area children to the fire station to learn about fire safety and prevention.
This year’s theme from the National Fire Protection Association’s Fire Prevention Week is “Prevent Home Fires.”
Atmore Fire Captain Lavon Parham said keeping homes safe begins with learning about fire safety early on. He said everyone should learn about fire safety at a young age.
First Baptist Atmore pre-school teacher Dyana Anderson agrees, “It’s important to see them in full gear,” she said. “It teaches them to not be afraid.”
Anderson also said it helps the children to learn about civic duty.
State Farm Insurance donated fire hats and coloring books for the children.
