More than 15 law enforcement agents searched high and low for an armed, unidentified man Thursday morning near the Martinville community.
Officers captured the suspect around 11 a.m. after he kept agents busy for more than two hours searching main roads, dirt roads and wooded areas in a three-mile radius. Following his capture, the suspect was transported to Atmore Community Hospital for evaluation for scratches and drinking creek water, according to Escambia County Sheriff Grover Smith.
Smith said the suspect damaged his wife's car then damaged his father's home and fled the scenes with a handgun.
"Right now his only being charged with harassment," Smith said.
Deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, officers from the Poarch Police Department and the Alabama State Troopers Office assisted in the search. The dog tracking team from Holman Prison was also called to the scene and a search helicopter was used.
