Free flu shots offered Oct. 28

In under five minutes, 650 people received free flu shots last year without even getting out of their cars.
This year, the Escambia County Health Department is setting its goal at a 1,000.
The Health Department is hosting their second annual drive-thru flu shot clinic in Atmore on Oct. 28 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tom Byrne Park.
Ricky Elliott, assistant administrator for the department, said they are continuing the clinic because of the positive response from last year.
In addition to benefiting the community, the clinic serves as practice for the Health Department’s emergency preparedness plan.
The Health Department will host another drive-thru flu shot clinic in Brewton on Oct. 31 from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Escambia County Stockyard located off Highway 31 behind Southern Pine Electric Cooperative.
