Looking to shake off a game full of questionable penalties, the Escambia County Blue Devils travel to Mobile to take on their final region opponent St. Paul’s Episcopal.
The Blue Devils (2-6, 1-5) look to improve on their performances, which have steadily shown improvement even in the midst of a losing season.
Head coach Kyle Davis said the Blue Devils have to keep doing the same things and improving week after week.
Offensively, the Blue Devils have started moving the ball better over the last few games starting with their back-to-back wins over Baldwin County and LeFlore.
The offense showed even more improvement by moving the ball down the field in both halves of last week’s game.
Davis said that there have been some successful plays called that have helped increased production. He said decreasing the number of penalties and increasing the amount of execution will be a huge factor in winning this game.
St. Paul’s (2-6, 2-4) bring a dangerous passing attack led by University of Alabama commitment A.J. McCarron.
The Blue Devils will be tested on defense by the arm and athleticism of the quarterback.
Davis said the defensive coaches have been working on a set up to keep the quarterback contained and in the pocket.
The Blue Devils and Saint Paul’s meet at Delaney Stadium on Friday night.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
