ASHFORD - Nell Terry, a resident of Ashford, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 68.
Graveside services for Mrs. Terry were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Thorpe officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Terry’s memory to a charity of your choice.
Mrs. Terry was born in Atmore to Capers Houston and Mary Malisa Mothershed Davis on Oct. 31, 1939. She was raised in Bratt, Fla. and was a 1957 graduate of Ernest Ward High School. Mrs. Terry started her banking career while a senior in high school and later retired from Farmers and Merchant Bank in Ashford. She loved flowers, gardening, watching and feeding Hummingbirds and fishing. Mrs. Terry was a sweet, kind, giving person. She was a member of Ashford First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Terry parents; husband, Alfred “Big Al” Lewis Terry and a brother, Jerry Bapers Davis, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Malisa Terry of Foley; two sons, Greg Hardy and his wife, Melissa of Madison and Ned Terry of Cottonwood; four granddaughters, Jennie Hardy Temples, Hayley DeAnn Hardy, Emily Kate Hardy and Chloe Rhae Hardy; three great grandchildren, Rachel Lynn Temples, Kaylee Brook Temples and Jaidyn Loivia Temples; sister, Barbara Ann Reyes of Ashford; three nieces, Sarina, Crystal and JeriLynn and several great nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers were David Kelly, Harrison Parrish, Scottie Powell, Jamey Faison, Bill Tatum and Ryan Potash.
