WALNUT HILL - Eugene Bryan, 82, of Walnut Hill died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 in Atmore. He was retired from St. Regis Paper Co. as a mill worker, born in McCullough on Nov. 8, 1925 to the late William Albert and Bessie Ballard Coon Bryan and also served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include, his wife of 63 years, Margaret Allene Vaughn Bryan of Walnut Hill; one son, William Eugene “Bill” Bryan and wife, Sharon McElhaney Bryan of Macon, Ga.; two daughters, Dianne Bryan Foster and husband, Wesley Milford of Baltimore, Md. and Terri Bryan Jernigan and husband Donald L. of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, Charles Bryan and wife, Louise of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Lorraine Huff of Pittsburg, Pa. and Virginia Sims and husband Emmit of Mobile; six grandchildren, Kellie Dianne Foster, Kimberly Joy Bryan, Jonathan Wade Bryan, Michael Brian Foster, Ashley Brianna Yazarlou and Landon Taylor Jernigan and five great-grandchildren, Emily Joy Spears, Brooke Allene Ferguson, Elizabeth Anne Spears, Margaret Kellie Ferguson and Davis Wesley Ferguson.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 at the Walnut Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Bridges and Rev. James Boyd officiating. Interment followed at Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Corporal Landon Jernigan, Harnid Yazarlou, Verne Ferguson, Jonathan Bryan, Brian Foster, Andy Spears and Fuelner Stuart. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Walnut Hill Baptist Church (active and inactive): James Grant, LeRoy Wiggins, Royce Ward, Joe Nezouich and Kent Sherrill.
Family received friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.
