Another game on the road for the Northview Chiefs brought on a 42-6 loss to the Marianna Bulldogs Friday night in Marianna, Fla.
The Chiefs (2-6, 1-2) traveled for the final time this season to face the Bulldogs (7-1), who boast a talented team.
Head coach Cody Keene said his team just was not ready for the Bulldogs and their speedy offense.
Offensively, the Chiefs could not muster much of an effort and did not see much production from their senior quarterback Jay Jackson. Jackson finished the night with 11 carries for 25 yards.
Freshman quarterback Brandon Sheets helped score the Chiefs lone touchdown with a touchdown pass to sophomore running back Dustin Yuhasz. Sheets finished the game completing 4-of-14 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. Yuhaz had seven carries for 57 yards and two receptions for 47 yards and the touchdown.
Keene said the defense for the Bulldogs controlled the line most of the night and the Chiefs just had trouble getting things moving.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Chiefs were led in tackles by junior linebacker Austin Reid who recorded 12 tackles. Sophomore defensive lineman finished behind Reid with eight tackles in the game.
Defensively, the game was just a tough fight with the skill players from Marianna being loaded with talent.
Keene said that playing teams with this type of talent will help his team in the future.
The Chiefs come home to Bratt for their final two games against South Walton High School and West Florida High School of Advanced Technology.
This week the Chiefs will go back to the drawing board, according to Keene.
Keene said all the Chiefs can do is try and fix the mistakes they have made and play with as much intensity as they can.
The Chiefs host South Walton Friday night at Northview. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
