Florat Tanner

MOBILE – Florat Tanner, a native of Atmore and a resident of Mobile passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at a hospital in Jackson, Miss. She was born Oct. 1, 1948 to Paralee Hudson and Fletcher Hudson (deceased). She was a resident of Mobile for 44 years. She was baptized at an early age at Mt. Gillard Baptist Church in Freemanville. She later joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Prichard; where she served faithfully until she became ill. She was a graduate of Central High School class of 1966. She attended Automation Training, Inc. in St. Louis, Mo. She later was employed with Chase Manhattan Bank in New York for approximately six years where she was a supervisor in the Accounts Payable department. She returned to Mobile and worked at Prichard Housing Board for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence J. Tanner and brother Benjamin F. Hudson. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, granddaughter, Tynikkia Tanner; stepdaughter, Altovise Tanner; devoted mother, Paralee Hudson; one sister, Bernice (Tommie) Sims of Mobile; one devoted brother, Clarence L. (Julia) Hudson, Mobile; and three other brothers, Clarence E. (Dorothy) Hudson, Montgomery; Alfred Hudson, Atlanta, Ga.; Morris (Rosa) Hudson, Brooklyn, N.Y.; two devoted nieces, Shanta Hudson-Fields and Felicia Hudson and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1712 Chestang Street, Prichard on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Christian Memorial Funeral Home.
