The Northview Lady Chiefs volleyball squad came up short against the Walton Lady Braves Tuesday night losing in three straight games in their district tournament.
The Lady Chiefs (13-11, 3-3) fell to the Braves 13-25, 15-25 and 26-28.
Head coach Betty Heaton said the match up between the schools seemed even after they split meetings earlier this fall.
Desire to win was a problem for the Lady Chiefs, according to Heaton.
Heaton said her team has had problems finding that desire to play hard and fight for wins.
Statistically, the Lady Chiefs were led by junior Amber McMillan and sophomore Shawna Montgomery.
McMillan finished the match with seven digs and three aces. Montgomery served up three aces and added a dig.
Senior Brittney Thompson led the team with seven kills and also had a block in the match.
Junior Caitlin Hall added five assists.
Outside of statistics, the Lady Chiefs had problems with leadership, according to Heaton.
Heaton said finding a leader has been a problem all year with no one trying to take on that role.
The final game saw the team pull closer than the previous two and force Walton’s hand.
Heaton said the team played different in the final game and actually played like they wanted to win.
After the loss, Heaton took the time to remind her team of their potential and what can be accomplished with more effort.
Heaton said she told the girls if they play like they want to win then they can win.
