WEST POINT, Miss. – Waymon Smith, 90, died, Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 in Brooksville.
Mr. Smith was born March 8, 1918, in Fairview, Okla. to the late Katie Nightengale and Dan Smith. He was a self-employed trucker and a custom crop harvester for 60 years. He was a member of Church of God in Christ Mennonite. He married Charity Bell Eicher on Aug. 30, 1998 in Walnut Hill, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his first wife: Wilma Lorene Koehn Smith in 1995, by a son: Gary Lee Smith; by a grandson: Kelly Ward Litwiller; by three brothers: Henry Smith, Glenn Smith, Paul Smith; and by three sisters, Anneta Yost, Beulah Blosser, and Kathryn Hiebert.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. from West Point Church of God in Christ, Mennonite with the Ministers Brad Wedel, Mike Koehn, Keith Nightengale, and Bruce Dirks officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include wife Charity Bell Smith of Brooksville; six daughters, LeAnn Litwiller of West Point, Miss., Janice Middaugh of Turlock, Calif., Sherry Schafer of Chambers, Ariz., Nancy Litwiller of Houston, Glenda Ensz of Inman, Kan. and Linda Friesen of Ogallala, Neb.; two sons, Errol Smith of West Point and Irving Lyle Smith of Knippa, Texas; two step-daughters, Barbara Loewen of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Alice Keator of Albuquerque, N.M; two step-sons, Richard Koehn of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Lynn Koehn of Albany, La.; 31 grandchildren and 16 step grandchildren; 67 Great Grandchildren and 24 step-great grandchildren; three sisters, Norma Unruh of Montezuma, Kan., Vada Ensz of Inman, Kan, and Geneva Smith of Liberal, Kan. and one brother, Dan Smith of Lakin, KS.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Clark Litwiller, George Ensz, Stacy Friesen, Marshall Litwiller, Darrell Litwiller and Van Smith.
Memorials may be made to Oakwood Manor Assisted Living Center, 355 North Pine Street, Brooksville, MS 39739.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 at Calvert Funeral Home.
