The Escambia Academy Cougars varsity boys basketball team is sporting a new look this season with new home and away uniforms.
The Cougars received the jerseys earlier this week and have the same look as the Ohio State Buckeyes basketball team.
EA athletic director Heath Gibson said there were several factors leading to the uniform purchase for the team.
The jerseys were ordered from Eastbay and copy the look of the Buckeyes.
Gibson said that Buckeyes jerseys were selected because of the look and the material they are made of.
After receiving the uniforms, the Cougars showed them off in a scrimmage at the Academy’s basketball gym Thursday evening.
Gibson said the team looked good in them and added that they will look better than some of their opponents this season.
The EA Lady Cougars varsity basketball team is also sporting a college look for their uniforms in the jerseys they sported last year.
Gibson said the Lady Cougars did not receive new uniforms because they have held up well and still look new. He added that they also look like another well-known university’s uniform.
