Smith, Wiggins sworn into office

Two new faces were added to the Escambia County Commission meeting table Wednesday as Brandon Smith and Raymond Wiggins were sworn into their new positions.
County Administrator Tony Sanks administered the oath of office to Smith who recently defeated challenger Kevin McKinley to serve in the District 4 seat. District 4 encompasses an area in and around Atmore in the west end of the county.
Wiggins was also sworn in by Sanks during the Wednesday ceremony. Wiggins defeated incumbent Todd Williamson to win the democratic nomination for the seat. Independent Norman Miller challenged Wiggins who eventually took the win for the seat.
The swearing-in ceremony was followed by a brief reception for family and friends of the newly elected commissioners.

Larry White was elected to serve as vice-chairman of the group.
