With a little help from the LA Bikers, Santa will be upping his cool quotient while delivering Christmas presents this year.
Santa and one of his elves will be riding on motorcycles along with the LA Bikers who will be hosting their eighth annual Toys for Tots bike ride on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Jody Jeter, spokesperson for the LA Bikers, said the event is very meaningful for the group and is something they look forward to each year.
This year the ride will benefit 10 families with a combined 30 children.
Bikers will meet at David’s Catfish in Atmore beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the ride will begin at 10 a.m.
The ride will make three stops, the first at Bratt Elementary, then at Murder Creek Customs in Brewton, the third at City Hall in Atmore and will end at Pee-Wee and Jim’s shop for lunch.
Children receiving the presents will be at each stop.
“It’s not your average bike ride,” Jeter said. “It’s nice because you get to see who you’re helping and be part of the experience.”
This year they are asking the community to help by donating new toys, which can be dropped off at Chuck Stevens Chevrolet, David’s Catfish House or with any member of LA Bikers. Cash donations are also accepted and any surplus will go towards next year’s ride.
These locations will accept toys and cash through Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Jeter encouraged anyone interested to come out.
The cost to ride is $20 and those not wanting to ride, but still participate, can give a donation and meet for lunch.
