Lady Chiefs fall to Hurricanes

The Northview Lady Chiefs came up short against the Flomaton Hurricanes on Thursday night losing 34-29.
The Lady Chiefs (2-2) received plenty of help from several players, but just could not keep the Hurricanes from winning the game.
Lady Chiefs guards Gabe Wesley and Timeka Marshall led the team in scoring with nine points apiece on the night. Wesley recorded three steals and two assists, while Marshall posted one steal, one rebound and three assists.
Head coach Obreonne Parker-Smith said her team played a tough game against the Hurricanes.
Lady Chiefs guard Shakeria White put up six points for Northview, while getting two steals. Forward Brittney Thompson scored two points and also nabbed four rebounds.
Forward Shaniqua Jones recorded one point and also posted three steals, one rebound and one assist. Guard Angela Rodriguez also scored two points for the Lady Chiefs.

Northview’s Lady Chiefs varsity basketball team tipped off Tuesday night against the Central Lady Jaguars and won 39-30.
The Lady Chiefs (2-1) were led to victory by guard Timeka Marshall who led the team in scoring. Marshall posted 14 points and finished the game with seven steals.
Marshall’s 14 points were supported by guard Gabe Wesley’s 11 points. Wesley also put up a strong defensive effort with six steals and a rebound.
Lady Chiefs head coach Obreonne Parker-Smith said her team started the game well because of their strong defense.
Their strong defense showed in the victory against the Lady Jaguars, with the Lady Chiefs securing 31 steals and 21 rebounds.
Parker-Smith said the size and quickness of her players posed as a strong advantage in getting the win.
Lady Chiefs forward Brittney Thompson netted three points, while fighting for nine rebounds and six steals.
Lady Chiefs forward Shaniqua Jones scored seven points, and had seven rebounds with five steals. Lady Chiefs guards Shakeria White and Angela Rodriguez each scored two points. White also had six steals and two rebounds, while Rodriguez had one steal.
Parker-Smith said the team is going to continue working on important plans for their upcoming games.
