Lady Devils tipoff with win

The Escambia County Lady Blue Devils opened up their 2008-09 campaign with a 63-31 victory over the Flomaton Hurricanes Tuesday night at ECHS.
The Lady Blue Devils (1-0) picked up the win with several players having key roles.
Lady Blue Devils guard Latesha Lee led the team in scoring with 14 points, while posting two assists, one rebound and one block. Lee was supported all around by her teammates including senior forward Cortuney English who posted 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Forward Brittney Martin scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds and blocked one shot. Guard Canausha Crenshaw also scored 12 points and had four rebounds.
Lady Blue Devils guard Megan Hartley scored six points and posted three rebounds and two assists. Forward Jordan Jaye netted six points and pulled down five rebounds, while guard Jodeci Craft score two points and served up two assists in the win.
Lady Blue Devils head coach Ray Greer said his team did an excellent job of spreading the ball around and hitting their shots.
The Lady Blue Devils next game is in the Daphne High School Thanksgiving tournamenton Nov. 28 at Daphne High School.
The Lady Blue Devils’ first game in the tournament is against Navarre High School of Navarre, Fla. at noon.
