Thanks Atmore for all the memories
A few weeks ago, we made a trip back to Atmore to find an inquiry on our answering machine concerning the absence of my column in the Atmore Advance. To whomever called, I sincerely appreciate the call, but I did not have the number to return your call. Thanks for the inquiry. Through this means, I will respond.
Back in May, I accepted my calling to Calvary Pentecostal Church in Jeanerette, La. We moved back to Louisiana in June, where I am serving as associate pastor, and my wife and I are working with the youth and children. While we will always cherish the years invested in the city of Atmore, I sincerely felt God ordering our steps to Louisiana. This move has taken us within two hours of both my parents and my wife’s parents. As you can imagine, our parents are thrilled to be able to see their grandchildren every couple of weeks!
The church body of Atmore Apostolic Church became like our family while we served them in the pastorate for those four and a half years. Every member will always have a special place in our hearts, and I thank them for all of the kindness and love shown during our tenure. I have no regrets or complaints about our time serving that wonderful congregation. We will always have wonderful memories. I was able to stay with them until the installation of their new pastor, Rev. Steve Ward. I encourage the community to visit AAC and become acquainted with the assembly and the new pastor.
To all of the merchants, community leaders, and citizens I was privileged to meet in Atmore, you have enriched my life and the lives of my family. Thanks to all who visited our services, singings, dinners, and revivals. Again, I encourage you to pay another visit to AAC.
Thanks to Adam Prestridge and the Atmore Advance for giving my pen a voice for more than four years. In the future, I intend to compile a 52-week devotional in book form using many of the columns previously published in the Atmore Advance.
Again, thanks for allowing my family to be part of your lives for nearly five years.
Sincerely,
Harlan Morgan,
Associate Pastor
Calvary Pentecostal Church
Jeanerette, La.
