ATMORE – Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Johns, 79, passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 in Century, Fla.
Mrs. Johns was a native of Akin, S.C., a former resident of Century, Fla. and a resident of Atmore for the past 20 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a member of the American Legion and the Flomaton Church of Christ.
Her husband, James A. Johns; two sons, James Edward Johns and Andrew Harrison; a grandson, Gene Lloyd; a great granddaughter, Kayla Godwin; her parents, Buck and Annie Turner; a brother, Herbert Turner and a sister, Jeanette Land, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, a son, Jim and Lillian Roye of Flomaton; two daughters, Louise and Billy White of Atmore and Barbara and Frank Lloyd of Slidell, La.; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon and Tammy Turner of Vance, S.C. and Hilton and Iva Turner of Waynesboro, Ga. and four sisters, Marion and Vernon Briggs of Thompson, Ga., Dorothy Moxley of Blythe, Ga., Jackie Hallman of Thompson, Ga. and Cornelia and Floyd Kitchens of Grove Town, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dianne Everette officiating. Burial followed in McCurdy Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Brian Roye, Jason Roye, Chris Roye, Mikey Roye, James Lloyd and Justin White. Honorary pallbearer was Tim Strickland.
