Atmore City Councilman Eldred Pritchett passed away early Wednesday morning at a hospital in Pensacola.
According to Atmore Mayor Howard Shell, Pritchett had been battling cancer for several months and had been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Shell said he spoke with Pritchett Monday evening and Pritchett told him he was going to the doctor Tuesday and was subsequently admitted to the hospital.
Pritchett served as the District 2 representative and was over the street department.
Shell commended Pritchett’s devotion to his community.
Pritchett was appointed to the Atmore City Council following the untimely death of councilman John Watkins who passed away Jan. 10. He was elected to the council in the municipal election in August.
