True to their name, the Grand Ole’ Dames held a grand ole’ tour of homes and businesses Sunday welcoming people in with Christmas cheer.
Five homes and four businesses participated in the tour allowing more than 100 people inside to tour and view decorations and shop at the businesses.
Sandra Holloway participated in the tour several years ago as a homeowner and this year as a tourist.
Club president Francis Odom said the event is something she always looks forward.
Jo Ann Martin participated in the tour with a group of friends.
Like Martin, many people went through the tour with groups, but unlike everyone else the Browns and Nalls went “green” with the tour.
Rachel and Brent Brown and Natalie and Berry Nall biked the entire tour.
Rachel Brown and Natalie Nall said the tour served as inspiration for their own decorations.
Brown added that the assortment of refreshments at the houses kept their energy up.
Berry Nall said he did have one complaint, “I deducted points for lack of bike racks, but we’re trying to get them in the works for next year.”
Vicki Day, owner of Day Gallery on Main, showcased her German Christmas market, which features typical German food items, Christmas decorations and collectibles.
Faye Brantley ended the tour at Coley Petal and Parties where she purchased a decorative holiday plant.
Melanie Hendrix was one of the tour’s homeowners and said the day had been a lot of fun for her.
Odom said she was pleased with the turnout and is already looking forward to next year.
Odom added she was very appreciative of everyone who participated.
