It’s not often you hear Santa nicknamed “Killer,” nor would you expect someone named Killer to be as jolly as Santa, but on Saturday that was exactly the case.
Steve “Killer” Grant, dressed as Santa, was one of more than 90 bikers who participated in the LA Bikers ride benefiting 33 children through Toys for Tots.
The ride has been going since 1999 and is different from most bike rides in that the riders see whom the toys are given to.
At the stops, one each in Atmore, Bratt and Brewton, children who received the toys were there with their families.
Colette Walters and Dale Burbick drove from Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. to participate in the ride.
Burbick agreed that this ride offers something unique for the participants.
Grant said the event is beneficial to more than just the families.
Pee Wee Powell is one of the event’s main organizers and was inspired by his childhood experiences to participate in Toys for Tots.
Jody Jeter is spokesperson for the group.
Powell said he was pleased in the number of people in the ride saying it was probably one of the biggest rider turnouts they have had.
Following the ride, the group met at Pee Wee’s Construction.
Powell wished to thank David’s Catfish and Atmore John Deere for their support along with several others.
