Eldred Lafayette Pritchett

ATMORE – Mr. Eldred Lafayette Pritchett, a native of Marengo County and resident of Atmore, passed into life eternal on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008.
Mr. Pritchett was an educator for 54 years in the Alabama School System. He loved his community and was a councilman from 1974-92 and was recently re-elected as city councilman and Mayor Pro-Tem.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Irma Beck; two daughters, Rita Fleming (Glenn) and Anita Greene (Robert); four brothers, Arthur, James (Doris), Robert and Alfred (Eva); two sisters, Ella Gray and Patricia Echols (Charles). He leaves four grandchildren, Derek Fleming (Regina), Sheldon Greene, Justin Fleming and Kellye Greene; three great-grandchildren, Dayzhonna, Ashley and Aidan and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He shall also be missed by his membership of Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church.
Family visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008 at Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008 at Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church, beginning with the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. ceremony at 11:30 a.m. and services to follow at noon.
